Ranong
Ranong province is another coastal province of Thailand on the shores of Andaman Sea. The province has the name “Isthmus of the Malay Peninsula” as being the narrowest part on the peninsula of about 50 km between the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand. Situated 560 km /350 miles/ Southwest of Bangkok it compasses area of 3,300 square km /1290 square miles/. More than 80% of the territory is covered in rainforest mountains. Ranong is the Thailand’s most rainy region. The main economy is concentrated on fishing industry, rubber and nuts production.
Despite being a small province and not so popular among tourists Ranong is abundant in natural attractions like coral reefs for divers, mountains and waterfalls for nature-lovers and many islands for calm relax. Best time to visit Ranong is between November and May otherwise you will be blown by the strong monsoon.
