Phetburi
Phetchaburi province /Phetburi for short/ is located 160 km /100 miles/ Southwest of Bangkok. In the East it borders Gulf of Thailand and in the west – Burma. Phetburi occupies an area of about 6,000 square km /2300 square miles/ half of it covered by the largest national park in Thailand - Kaeng Krachan National Park. The majority of the population are involved in the agricultural and fisheries industries rather than tourism so the area is calm and not so popular in case you look for calm place or for trekking. The capital of the province is also named Phetburi with a population of 26,000.
The biggest attraction is most suitable for nature-seekers as Kaeng Krachan National Park offers great natural views like waterfalls, caves, mountains and variety of wild animals including wild elephants. As Phetchaburi is an old royal city history-lovers can enjoy the palace of King Mongkut /known as “Phra Nakhon Khiri”/ or the royal temple of Wat Phra Kaeo.
