Khorat
Khorat /also known as “Nakhon Ratchasima”/ is the capital city of the province of Khorat. Situated about 260 km /160 miles/ Northeast of Bangkok Khorat is also the largest northeastern province covering an area of 25,500 square km /10,000 square miles/. Khorat's plays a great role as it is the main transportation, industrial and economic hub of the Northeastern Thailand. In ancient times there is information that the region was influenced by Dvaravati culture and Khmer culture. The ancient name of Khorat is Korakapucha.
The city of Khorat as the province is a good decision for historical tourism. There are very well preserved ruins of Khmer culture scattered through the whole region. Also Khorat has many natural attractions like forests, hills, wildlife and waterfalls that are easily accessible in locations such as Khao Yai National Park. The destination of Khorat is not so popular among the average holiday-makers so you will have a good chance to fully enjoy your vocation.
