Khon Kaen
Khon Kaen is the capital city of Khon Kaen province. Located some 450 km /280 miles/ Northeast of Bangkok Khon Kaen is the political and commerce center of Northeastern Thailand. Khon Kaen is located in the Khorat plateau and the major river flowing through the province is Chi. With population of more than 1,700,000 people mainly of Chinese-Thai origin. Khon Kaen province has the highest population growth of the Northeastern region. The city of Khon Kaen has approximately 140,000 people.
One of the major historical issues in the province of Khon Kaen is the discovery of dinosaur remains. Major attractions in the region are Mu Ban Tao or Turtle Village with some rare turtle species. Or you can visit Phu Wiang Nationl Park which is rich in flora and fauna and beautiful waterfalls. This is the place where remains of dinosaurs were discovered there.
